It’s been a while since I wrote a blog post! I’ve really enjoyed blogging but if I am being honest, I got burnt out. I felt responsible and overwhelmed with moving a business forward on top of nonstop traveling with my spouse and our dog. I knew I needed to take a step back from blogging in order to enjoy the moment and focus on myself. Our trip has given me a lot of time to reflect on what I want my life to be like and recently I’ve had to answer some of life’s biggest questions.
My life has changed drastically since coming home from South America and moving back to my apartment in San Francisco. One decision I have recently made is in my career. I am starting school in June to become a school counselor! In the meantime, I am waitressing again, which has been great money, a little rough on my body, a fun social atmosphere and most importantly, a flexible schedule. While I love doing event planning, the hours are brutal and barely being able to get two weeks off to travel was not something I could mentally wrap my head around. During my soul searching, I knew I wanted a job that would give me flexibility in my schedule to have a family and travel, but that offered good benefits and retirement (I’m an adult!), and most importantly was able to make a small difference in someone’s life. My mom Audrey, who is a school nurse, has been suggesting I go into school counseling for a few years. After researching a career in school counseling and looking into graduate the program requirements, I decided to trust my gut and start a new path.
Now that the trip is over, I have also been struggling on what direction to take Tip Top Planning in. I will forever be planning my next adventure and I am definitely going to keep writing about my travels. However, now that I have stepped away from a full-time job in event planning, I am hoping to use Tip Top Planning as my creative outlet. I am excited to share that my blog post “12 Redwood Venues in the Bay Area” has started to get a lot of attention, especially on Pinterest. I’ve started booking clients through my blog for virtual event planning and day of coordinating here in the Bay Area. I will be writing more about event venues, in order to expand my business. Who knows, one day I might be able to travel the world reviewing event planning venues!
I certainly hope you will continue to follow along on the next chapter in my life. I’m looking forward to sharing more adventures and life changes soon!
